Temple Mills
Early 50's to 2009
In its heyday in the 50's showing
the retarders to slow down the trucks as they freewheel from over the
hump. Looking towards Lea Bridge Road.
You can just make out the Gas Works faintly on the right. |
One of the control towers.
The other is in the distance on the hump itself.
|
A
view looking towards Stratford showing the numerous sidings
to which the wagons were sorted. |
A flooded Temple Mills Yard.
Commercial post card posted 7th July 1906 |
The same view some 40 years
later in 1990. Looking very forlorn after its former glory.
|
But all is not lost! Some 18
years later and Temple Mills came back to life.
This shot taken in Aprl 2004 which shows a new EWS diesel servicing shed. However, this was demolshed in 2007 and the main servicing shed for the Eurostar electric multiple units has now been erected. |
This is the same view on 6/7/2009.
Now used as a stabling yard for emu's nearly all class 321's. In the distance is the Eurostar depot. |
25/07/09 321 No. 423 stands
alone! The 'P' indicates that the parcel van is this end.
|
Just make out a couple of Eurostars
in the distance.
