News of Mr. John Jones (art teacher)
MR. LESLIE A. SMITH. (1923 - 2004)

It is with much sadness and regret to have to inform
you all that after a relatively short illness, Mr. Leslie Smith passed
away on Friday 23rd July 2004 in Whipps Cross hospital.
He was headmaster of Markhouse Road Secondary school from 1957 to 1966. He will be sadly missed. |

Notice that the railings and pillars are still in tact, although moved. Since this photo was taken, the tops of the pillars with the wording "GIRLS" and "BOYS" has been filled in with concrete. |
